Sonar* A.S. is a systemic aquatic herbicide that has been effectively used since
1986 to control submersed aquatic weeds in a variety of aquatic environments, including
freshwater lakes, ponds, potable water reservoirs, rivers and canals.
Over the past ten years, Sonar A.S. has proven to be an effective tool for managers
targeting submersed aquatic weeds in ponded or static canals. In 2007, the United
States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) approved a new label amendment allowing
the application of Sonar A.S. to dry or dewatered canals. This new application technique
provides canal managers a cost effective and flexible pre-emergent solution to annual
aquatic weed control.
Pre-emergent Solution
- NEW USE! Application to dry or dewatered canals
- Application to ponded or static canals
- One application after the irrigation season (October – February)
- CAUTION Signal Word: Negligible risk to applicators
- Negligible impact to the environment and non-target organisms
