Legacy* Plant Growth Regulator (PGR) integrates patented† synergistic plant growth
regulator technology to reduce stem elongation and leaf blade length in perennial
warm- and cool-season turfgrasses on golf courses resulting in a more compact and
dense growth habit. Legacy uniquely suppresses Gibberellic Acid (GA), the plant
hormone responsible for cell elongation in most plants, which leads to its unsurpassed
growth regulation. Legacy's synergistic growth regulation, resulting from its dual
sites of action and plant uptake, leads to enhanced growth suppression, improved
turfgrass color and quality, extended PGR spray intervals, discouragement of Poa
annua (annual bluegrass), and more uniform growth regulation in mixed turfgrass
stands.

Legacy’s patented site of action PGR synergy results in
growth suppression, improved turfgrass color and quality, extended spray intervals,
and suppression of Poa annua. Plant physiological advantages to applications
of Legacy include:
- Multiple plant sites of uptake: Legacy is absorbed
by plants via roots, stems, and leaves; and
- Multi-site activity within gibberellic acid (GA) biosynthesis pathway:
Legacy inhibits GA production at both early and late stages in the pathway.
PGR absorption via the roots and foliage allows for more efficient
uptake by the plant ensuring an optimal amount of active ingredient is available
for GA inhibition. Additionally, blocking GA biosynthesis early and late in the
biological pathway regulates GA more efficiently than at a single site within this
cycle.
Benefits of Legacy applications to Turfgrass:
- Shoot growth suppression of warm- and cool-season turfgrasses resulting in decreased
mowing frequency and turfgrass clippings.
- Increased turfgrass density, wear-resistance, and improved color on warm- and cool-season
turfgrass species resulting in improved turf quality.
- Suppression of Poa annua in cool-season turfgrasses.
- Improved water use efficiency of warm- and cool-season turfgrass resulting in pre-drought
stress conditioning. In university research, TGRs including the active ingredients
in Legacy resulted in water conservation from 11% to 29% compared to mowed untreated
grass.
- Saves labor and fuel associated with mowing
Multiple plant sites of uptake provides synergy
Legacy is the only turf PGR on the market that is absorbed by the plant both via the
shoots, crowns, and roots. Legacy provides both foliar, crown, and root uptake,
ensuring sufficient active ingredient is translocated throughout the plant for maximum
growth regulation to occur. The dual sites of uptake and action result in less potential
for initial bronzing or discoloration. Legacy's systemic action quickly distributes
the active ingredients to the growing point of the plant leading to unsurpassed
growth regulation.
Dual sites of action provides synergy
Legacy is the only turf PGR that suppresses growth by inhibiting the production of Gibberellic
Acid (GA) at two different sites within the biosynthetic pathway. By inhibiting
GA production both early and late in the GA pathway, Legacy provides unparalleled
GA inhibition efficiencies within the turfgrass plant.
