Invasive Milfoil Spreads in Maine

Non-native variable milfoil, the most prevalent invasive in the state of Maine, has been found in another water body. Of the eight samples taken in late July from Annabessacook Lake in Winthrop County, two were found to be milfoil. Disappointing for the DNR, and everyone who enjoys the lake, it is becoming a common story; a boat inspector discovered fragments of the invasive floating around a landing. The nearby lakes of Belgrade and Oakland are also infected.
